Our Latest Goal

I've always hated running. No, its not really hate. Its more if you make me run I want to hurt you. One of those things I had to ignore growing up in sports. I mean, if you say you aren't going to run then they make you run even more! The only time I said I wouldn't run and I was able to was in PE in middle school. I always thought it was funny because here I was skin and bones, doing hours upon hours of volleyball after school, and they always gave me a C because I didn't "try." Sorry, I have more important things to do.

Anyway! I'm a pretty good Facebook stalker. I read other people's blogs because I LOVE to know all about anyone. I could sit and ask questions for hours because I really want to know everything about you. SO I was reading someone's blog, looking at pictures and there were some of running. Hmmm. That got me thinking. I've always wanted to run a 5K. What would it be like to run a marathon? That in itself is a crazy idea but why not? God has blessed me so much, He can preform this miracle!

Haha. So I was looking online on How To websites about how to run a 5K. The website was showing me a program based on the assumption I could already run 1.5 miles. Uhhhh...not exactly. So I looked up the basics of running and there was an 8 week program. I decided that I was going to do it! ME! Yeah, me. I told Taylor about it and after he picked his jaw off the ground (yeah I hate running that much) he said he would do it with me! Score! Mucho awesome husband.

After dinner was over and we watched another episode of 24 on DVD, (love that!) put on our running shoes, and headed out the door. Now of course it starts you off slow, but I'm sure once we get going more and more it will get better. I really enjoy exercising with Taylor. It puts us in a good mood and its good for us. Being married added a few(many) big LBs! But we've been really good about food lately and we're away from all the delicious cooking all of our parents do. Sad, but not so bad when we want to be healthier. Actually I shouldn't say they cook unhealthy either. My mother is Queen of health. But when I eat so much... it catches up.

So there's our latest thing that we're on. I really like how much Ann Arbor is into health. Really, there are so many people outside walking and running and riding their bikes, it makes you look at your gut and say....hm. No more pizza. Haha, I'm sure we'll have pizza again. But who wants to eat so unhealthy after burning so many calories?

Hmmm

I hope this works

It's been a while...

We're here. Yes, we're here. In Michigan. Pretty crazy stuff. I must say I wanted to start this blog a long time ago but you know how things go. I seem to want things more than I do them sometimes. We've really enjoyed the time that we've had here but there is a long story behind it.
Here goes:

When Taylor decided Michigan, I was thrilled. All I knew about Ann Arbor was that it was the Orange County of MI. I was even more excited that I would be leaving my emotionally draining job! The most common phrase we heard was, "You know it's cold in Michigan." I'm really not one to swear, actually I never do. But after the umpteenth time...I wanted to yell back, "Yeah, no (blank) Sherlock!" But of course I would never do that so mostly I would tell people that everything was going to be fine! Why do people tell you all the bad stuff first? Who knows! Well after I quit my job, (yay!) I had 2 weeks to pack! Yeah, talk about crazy!

I will NOT miss our old apartment (no dishwasher or A.C.) but I will for sure miss Irvine. There were always such nice breezes that came through our window at night. I did totally fine packing away everything and throwing out what we didn't want. My mom even came to help! It was really nice to have the extra hand. We got moooost everything done. Not quite though. We knew we would have the impending Carlsbad trip to tend to but there wasn't really a lot of time to worry or think about it. It seemed like everyone and their mother wanted to see us before we left. Why didn't they want to visit before when they knew we were moving soon? Tsk tsk.

In between all the chaos, Taylor graduated. Haha, did I mention how proud I am of him? He received his B.S. in Chemistry. He's what I call a Smaaarteeee. Not to mention, good lookin'!

That day was surprisingly LONGER than our wedding day! His parents had a wonderful party for him the morning of. The food was fabulous! His mother is so sweet. Since I didn't get my chocolate fountain at the wedding, she got one specifically for me. I love her so much!

This is just the dessert table! Complete with rice krispies, fruit, marshmallows, etc. Such a fun and delicious add to the party. This is my brother in law, Greg. I think he enjoyed it!

The day after Taylor graduated, we were off to Carlsbad. It just happened to be our 1 year anniversary! Everyone we know doesn't really understand the whole beach camping thing, but its our own little paradise.

This was under our really cool Costco beach umbrella. What a way to celebrate the year together.

And that was it! We said our goodbyes, then we were off. We had a going away party, but those pictures are currently with my dad who is not so tech savy. Someday I will post those.

So that was June in a nutshell. We're here now, and I will be posting more. But til then, tata!
